The history of our branch goes back to the start of the Legion when the first Provincial convention was held here on Jan 11 1927 and the branch received its charter. The original building being in the old courthouse.  the new building was purchased in 1931 and in 1956 Medicine Hat Br #17 was renamed Robertson Memorial Branch after Private Pete Robinson who was awarded the Victoria Cross for Gallantry in WWI.  During the depression years the branch was instrumental in distributing beef rations from local ranchers to the needy.  The building was expanded in the 1960’s to accommodate the new club room, but by 1973 we were already outgrowing our current spaces and another addition was added giving us the current kitchen, Ortona room and enlarged canteen.  The decreasing numbers of the 1990’s saw the need for leasing out part of our space.  Schooners pub is a public bar, owned by the branch.
